Mending Broken Hearts

For many of us certain songs can be a soothing ointment healing our deepest wounds. These soundtracks can be the perfect accompaniment to our life’s sorrows.

I had one such song heal my heart the first time it was broken at the very tender age of 15. The soundtrack that played on my clock radio was Sheena Easton’s “Almost Over You.” I would sit in my room for hours listening to the radio, waiting for that song. When I finally recorded most of the song with my cassette tape player, I listened through the static and hit rewind over and over until I finally memorized all the lyrics, all of the harmonies, and eventually healed my heart.

It has been over 20 years since I heard that song. When I found it for this post, I was amazed I still remembered every word and even some of the harmonies! What surprised me most was when the song ended I actually had a tear in my eye.

I hope you enjoyed this flashback from 1983: Sheena Easton’s “Almost Over You.” I particularly like when she throws the video machine over the balcony. Classic.

What song healed your broken heart?
